weekly blog post #11

Yesterday in class we finished watching a movie about people who seemed to be stuck in a catatonic state. In the movie the patients seemed to be "awaken" from another force of energy. For example, if a patient was thrown a ball, they would catch it, but make no other movements besides catching the ball. One of the doctors in the movie said that this was not an awakening, but a reflex. I believe that this could not have only been just a reflex because the patients didn't have a reflex for any other actions that should have them. For example, if the patient had a hand waved in front of their face, the reflex would be for them to blink, but these patients didn't exhibit these behaviors or reflexes. That is why i support the fact that there must have been some other awakening with the force of another object and not just reflexes alone.
